Description: The charming porcelain baby figurines are a beloved remnant of the Victorian era. Those who owned a piano often draped a light, silk-lined shawl over it to protect it from dust. To prevent the shawl from slipping, many used these figurines or heavy vases as anchors. These porcelain bisque piano babies, either clothed in the era's fashionable attire or unclothed, were a prevalent decorative feature in parlors from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Typically placed atop pianos, which inspired their colloquial name, these ornamental figures were thought to entertain young children during piano practice. Their popularity persisted until the onset of WW1. These particular babies were painted with a more sinister expression on their faces. The boy baby is 7" high by 4.25 "wide. The girl baby is 6.5" height and 3.5" wide. They are both in good pre owned condition. There are a few minor flea bites on male. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. Why not bring home this adorable/terrifying pair today? Feel free to message me if you are only interested in a single baby.
