Description: Vintage Shingler's Hatchet, AJC 21 Ounce, Hickory Handle, Akron Ohio Here is a classic original AJC vintage shingler's hatchet in very good condition, clean and shiny. Made in Akron, Ohio. 11" hickory handle with what appears to be a cast alloy (slightly magnetic) head with an adjustable scoring blade. Weighs 21 ounces overall, so most likely is a 16 ounce head. Head face is cross-hatched, but not magnetized. Sometimes referred to as "the roofer's best friend" this old school tool retains its usefulness in the modern world to make repairs where a pneumatic nail gun would be a burden (and not nearly so useful).
