Description: RARE Vintage Architecture ALPHA RHO CHI Bronze Leadership Service Merit Penn State ALPHA RHO CHI Bronze Medal, by Robert Merrell Gage This RARE medal (medallion) is beautiful bronze struck relief which is MINT or near MINT. It's very rare and would be a fabulous collector's item, especially for fans of architecture. Lovely vintage condition without any major dings or dents. there might be some slight scratches here and there. there appears to be one small manufacturer's defect with a sharp raised edge about 1/4 inch, on front surface at hip of woman. The medal's front bears a female figure seated on an iconic capital, holding a model of a building in outstretched hands, Greek Temple in the background. Written around the top is ALPHA RHO CHI, sighed at the bottom, GAGE. The medal's revers bears inscription field on top a pillar, nine stars above. Over the pillar is Written LEADERSHIP SERVICE MERIT, inscribed to PENN STATE ERVIN A. HILL, assumed to be from around 1955. ALPHA RHO CHI is a professional co-educational fraternity for students studying architecture and related professions. The fraternity's name is derived from the first three letters of the Greek word for architecture. The octagonal medal measures 50mm x 50mm (about 2" inches x 2" inches and 1/8" inch thick) and was struck in bronze by the Medallic Art Co. of New York. Very heavy weighs approx. 57.8 grams. It's also very rare indeed.
