Description: The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe First Edition First Printing (1979) Farrar, Straus, and GirouxAttribution: A true 1st/1st should have all these criteria, and this copy does:Farrar Straus Giroux under the author’s name on page facing main title page. ‘First printing, 1979’ on copyright page. light grey cloth boards and spine, facsimile of author’s signature on front board, spine embellished with silver stars, FSG in red and title/author in blue on spine. plain blue endpapers.Dust jacket is unclipped and shows price of $12.95 at top corner of front flap. Rear panel photo of Wolfe with no text. rear flap has ISBN at bottom and photographer Nancy Crampton credited along the fold.Condition: Book rated Good+ under conservative criteria. The text is clean, unmarked with no writing, tears, or folds. there is evidence of an old water spill along the top edge resulting in waviness in pages, upper third of text block. No staining to pages but a small stain from reverse of blue endpaper offsetting to the obverse of the additional titles page. This also affected only the top 1/4 in/1/2 cm of the inside of the dust jacket-the outside unaffected. The boards and spine show occasional spotting and an area of tide mark/staining at top of front cover, top of spine, and top of rear cover. Some fading of text on spine and the embossed signature.Dust jacket has a few closed tears near the margins of the upper edge (front) and lower edge (rear)panels and some scuffs and wrinkling to the upper quarter of the front panel. The dust jacket is in a removable archival dust jacket protector and improves the appearance of many of these flaws.I am being very critical of these issues in my description, but all in all a nice copy of a true first printing.*I research the books that I list for sale prior to listing, and that involves consulting a number of sources, a good number of which are available to you for free.I do my best to give the information you might need to independently verify my attributions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me for further bibliographic info on a particular listing. *The pictures and description are of the actual book(s) for sale or auction. I do not use generic or ambiguous descriptions. I try to be conservative in my assessments of condition, listing and providing pictures of significant faults. I would prefer that you be pleasantly surprised than to be disappointed with your purchase. If I make a mistake or miss a condition point, contact me and we will work it out. Although I don’t generally accept returns, of course I will do whatever I can to correct a problem, and returns always apply when I misattribute or fail to mention a significant condition issue. *I only ship in Boxes with multiple layers of protection for the book(s).I cannot ship to alternate addresses not in your profile, or delay shipping beyond the deadline required of me by eBay. *Most of my listings include Free Media Mail shipping to the US. For Global shipping, the shipping to the hub is done by Media Mail. I generally take packages to the post office personally and have them scanned in-this reduces shipping time, usually, and adds a little security. It also means that I can easily ship to US territories and APO addresses-sometimes packages to states and territories outside the continental US can take some time. *Shipped from a smoke and pet free home. *Feel free to make reasonable offers, and I often send offers to those who add an item to their watchlist. *I send a message confirming purchase, and usually another when the package is on the way. I closely monitor my inbox and try to respond within hours. I leave feedback as soon as the book is on the way. I would really appreciate it if you, as buyer, leave feedback when the book(s) arrive and you have had a chance to look over your purchase (or contact me if there’s an issue).Seller downsizing personal collection. I don’t list more books than I can handle with personal service, and recently paused selling for a few months due to a couple of surgeries. Please see my other listings for more series, mystery, fantasy and sci-fi, collectible, modern literature books, classics and nonfiction.
