Description: Samuel Barber Sonata for Piano. Commissioned for The League of Composers for its twenty-fifth anniversary. Copyright 1950, by G. Schirmer, Inc. 43 pages. Heavy paper and cardstock. Excellent condition. This is a piece from my mother's music collection. She was born in 1941 and began her piano studies at age five. She went to Indiana University in 1957 and earned a Performer's Certificate and a Master of Music degree consecutively, then a Doctor of Music degree in 1975. Her teachers were Joseph Batista, Abbey Simon, and Alfonso Montecino. She was active throughout her life teaching, performing, and advancing the arts in Southern Indiana. She died of vascular dementia shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began. All music being offered here is bound, relatively undamaged, and complete. It may be marked in pen or pencil, have stickers or labels, and have been prepped in some way for page turns or to stay open on the music desk.
