Gaboon Ebony is an exotic wood native to West Africa. It is an extremely hard, dense, and heavy wood, with a very fine texture. So dense it will not float on water and will actually sink to the bottom. These beautiful dense heartwood blanks are a uniform jet-black and/or black-brown. As seen in images #'s 5 & 6, the samples are wet to show an approximation of what these select blanks will look like finished. The sample pics are not fret boards, they are smaller pieces of the same quality heartwood. They are for example purposes only. However, the wet sample was mostly black/brown, yet it's very black when wet as you can see.These premium pieces are hand picked for each order. There will be no lighter colored wavy streaks or grained veins. So if you are looking for a beautiful black high grade exotic ebony fingerboard for your next custom guitar neck(s), look no further. ***Also available upon request are black fret board blanks with moderate light brown streaks and/or Pale Moon with fancy black, brown and pale brown wavy vertical streaking throughout the blanks.
