Original, extremely rare Beatles 1962 promotional photo card with Pete Best

Description: ORIGINAL VERY RARE BEATLES 1962 PROMOTIONAL PHOTO CARD WITH PETE BEST – COMMISSIONED BY MANAGER BRIAN EPSTEIN TO PROMOTE BAND OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: An original, extremely rare Beatles promotional photo card printed for use by the group’s legendary manager Brian Epstein to promote the group around Liverpool and the entire Merseyside. From what I understand, it was also available for purchase by fans at Epstein’s NEMS record store on Whitechapel Street. According to the original owner of this piece, that is where this card originated. The photo was one of a series of photos taken in March 1962 by Harry Whatmough. The photographer was hired by Epstein to capture his group in their new suits, part of Brian’s plan for transforming the boys from a rag-tag, leather-wearing, scruffy lot into neatly-dressed and groomed musicians with a polished stage presentation. Most significantly, the card features the early Beatles with drummer Pete Best—and were used to secure local gigs prior to their first major recording contract and, of course, before Ringo Starr replaced Pete as the group’s drummer in August 1962. The card is absolutely original, printed in 1962. Printed on thicker photo stock, the photo retains its glossy finish (which I have tried to capture in one of the photos). There is just a hint of tape residue in three of the four corners of the card where it may have been mounted in a scrapbook but, as you can see from the posted photos, they are barely discernible. There is small grouping of indentations at the bottom center -- as seen in the 4th photo -- but there are no bends or creases in the card and the image is very sharp. The back is clean without any markings. It measures 5-3/8 inches by 3-1/2 inches. These photo cards are extremely scarce and almost NEVER come up for sale. I can’t recall the last time I saw this or any early pre-Ringo group photo card for any price. This is your rare opportunity to secure a piece of early Beatles history, produced at a time when the group was still trying to find its way to success and fame along with hundreds of competing Liverpool bands.
