Description: This #138 (see the part diagram picture above) gear is a brand-new one-piece solid injection molded plastic gear and is the OEM replacement. The #138 gear is easy to replace and takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The #138 gear is designed by the milling machine manufacturer to strip under sudden and abnormally high load to "save" other plastic intermediate gears in the spindle head from damage. It is very difficult and can take hours, requiring special tooling, to replace other intermediate gears inside the spindle head, thus, it is not recommended to replace the #138 gear with a metal one.
