Description: An extensively carved and figured Victorian Burr Walnut Lenzkirch Bracket clock with melodic Ting-Tang chimes. The clock is in great original, full working condition. It has been cleaned, polished, movement serviced and oiled and the springs greased. The burr walnut case has a rich deep patina and is in outstanding condition. The high quality case features a variety of carving and figuring that typify the best skills of the Lenzkirch clockmakers and echo the forester themes found in Black Forest clocks. The variety of carving styles include gadroon moulding, figuring, fretwork carving and a variety of detailed high quality carvings including lion mask, foliate, floral and forester motifs. The perforated brass mesh of the rear door is coated black and is backed by deep red silk which has replaced the perished silk of similar colour. The sides of the case have framed bevelled glass windows.The case feet are rectangular wood pads. The rectangular dial compliments the case. It has gilded brass spandrels surrounding a silvered chapter ring and matted brass centre and is surrounded by a silvered reflector. There is a subsidiary speed regulation dial above the main dial which also has a silvered chapter ring and matted brass centre. The clock hands are blued steel. The wood front door is extensively carved and blends with the surrounding case and is fitted with bevelled glass. All aspects of the dial and door are in original and good condition. The front and rear door locks are original, work smoothly and have been serviced and lubricated. The movement is stamped Lenzkirch 44 and 975744, dating it to 1892. It is running smoothly. The clock Ting-Tang chimes the quarter, half, and three quarter hour on two gongs and the hours on a single gong. Please see video.
