Diseases of the Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder (2 volumes, 1914), Kelly & Burnam

Description: This is an original 1914 2-volume hardcover printing of "Diseases of the Kidneys, Ureters, and Bladder," a rare medical textbook set written by Howard A. Kelly and Curtis F. Burnam, published by D. Appleton and Company, and serving as a great look at old medical knowledge. Lots of detailed and often graphic illustrations supplement the text. These particular books were part of a hospital library, as described below. Overall, the books being offered are in fair condition with various cosmetic flaws. As you'll see in my first five photos, the covers have heavy wear, especially in the corners and at the top and bottom of the spines, where noticeable fraying and chipping occur. Library stamps are affixed to the spines. The binding is a little stiff but still rather strong, and all covers are a little loose from the binding (though still fully attached). Inside, the pages are crisp and largely clean but do contain occasional smudges & stains. Also, stamps for the Mercy Hospital Staff Library occur inside both the front and back covers, and the title pages contain embossed stamps for that library, along with a purple stamp saying "indexed." Several other pages also contain library stamps, including stamps for the personal library of the original owner who donated the books to the Mercy Hospital library. On the backs of the title pages are library notations written with pencil, and a few other isolated instances of writing also occur.
