Description: Channel Master 6506 AM Radio 1959 Serviced Works Excellent Vintage VTG Made in Japan from 1959 to 1968. By the type of oscillator coil, date codes of components installed, and the presence of civil defense markings on its dial, I believe this one was produced in 1959 or 1960. These were very popular radios. They still are. These are considered by many to be one of the most attractive radio designs ever made. Today, there are web sites dedicated to their preservation. I’ve worked on this model before. It came to me with a broken battery magazine. I replaced it with a new one. Powered up, the radio had very low volume. A condition caused by open capacitors. I replaced all seven with Nichicon Gold Audio, which returned the radio to full performance. It’s clean, glossy, and reflective. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. It has two small chips, one in the bottom back and one in the top left. It is very difficult to find one of this model that doesn’t have at least one chip. The radio uses an acrylic plastic. It reflects like a mirror, but the trade off is it is fragile. Please see my photos. I usually service the vintage radios I sell on eBay. Serviced = I clean the volume control, check the radio’s alignment, and check its current draw. It’s loud. Volume control goes smoothly from silent to blazing overload loud. It produces a clean and clear sound. It’s sensitive. It uses a “long-bar” antenna, and it’s exceptionally sensitive. I was able to easily zoom straight to the local weak stations in my area I use to confirm a radio is working correctly. There is a station in Everett Washington that’s 250 miles from me. I was able to tune that station. It’s a long ways away, but I could still hear the classic oldies. May I include the thoughts of this old radio repair guy? As I said, these were a popular model from Channel Master. I’ve repaired a few of these for customers. They have all had the same problems. Their cabinets seem to always have a chipped corner. Their antenna retainers are usually broken. Those plastic Sanyo capacitors are all bad fifty years after they were made. I understand there are probably dozens for sale right now on eBay for less. If you buy mine, it will be fixed and working like new for many years. I ship USPS Flat Rate. A tracking number will be provided the following business day after purchase. I will combine shipping when applicable, so please see my other cool old radios for sale. As I stated, this model of radio is VERY Fragile. It must be shipped double boxed with layers and layers of bubble wrap. It's the only way I will ship it, hence the $18.40 shipping. -karl : )_
