Description: Outstanding, very good antique condition, signed / dated, attractive perforated paper punch sampler needlework motto, Victorian style, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS with significant text and adornments. Lower left corner stitching may (?) read “Christmas” last letter missing” see pic 11; notice the “t” is Christian cross symbol. Lower right corner (see pic 12) has stitched 4 letter initials or name and what appears to be year “1881”. Visible vertical sampler size is 15.5” x 19.5”; overall frame size is 17.5” x 21.5”. See pics as part of the description. There appears to be gold foil under the paper which makes a lovely sheen. Perforated paper has no obvious fractures, does have general overall darkening but no specific area stains. The stitching is expertly done, no major thread loss or breakage, and still has vibrant colors. Note that the perforated paper “slides” a bit under the glass and therefore an upper gap can appear; the degree of movement is represented in next to last 2 pics. The frame feels sturdy but joints have some gaps, frame has old gold paint which has age related nicks; glass is old “wavy” and some gold paint on glass. Back cover has old paper dust cover, multiple layers of tape, and possibly thin wood underneath. There is no hanging hardware present. This beauty will be carefully packaged, well padded, and shipped with USPS Ground Advantage. Seller may instead use UPS Ground if more efficient. Thank you for viewing and reading.
