Description: This is an antique traveling optical testing kit. The suitcase is a paper covered wooden box with an inner tray and measures 20.5" long by 12.5" wide by 5" tall. The exterior paper covering the wood base is in poor condition but the wood below is nice. The suitcase closes and the closures work and hold the case closed. The handle is missing. The interior is in red velvet which is in good condition. The top tray is oak and holds 64 steel framed convex dioptric lenses on the right from .37 - 100. There are 63 brass framed lenses on the right with one steel frame from .25 - 160. The center two divisions hold more rows of framed lenses, some brass and some steel. Below these is a horizontal row with prismatic lenses and some others with dark paper. The top also holds a pair of optical testing glasses to hold various lenses and a magnifying pair of lenses on a celluloid handle. The lower level of the case has 11 divisions with more boxes of interchangeable lens from FA Hardy & Sons. Also included are small cases containing ophthalmic discs and a handheld viewer with a variety of strength lenses. In addition is a celluloid handled mirror which is broken, a vision card and more miscellaneous lenses and other equipment. There are over 200 framed lenses on the top tray and more than 100 plain lenses on the bottom. You are buying this in AS IS vintage noted condition. This suitcase set is heavy and weighs 16 pounds itself and will be well wrapped and packed in a heavy-duty box for shipment.
