Primitive Folk Art Noah's Ark Peaceable Kingdom PaintingThe painting is on canvas on a FrameA more modern 'frame' edge has been added around the outer edge of the paintingThere is what looks like writing or a stencil on the back edge of the frame - it is pretty much undecipherable to me - better photograph editing software than I have may make this discernableThe dimensions of the original Painting are 19 1/8" by 13" The painting as it is with the newer outer border applied is 19 7/8" by 13 3/4"There are 2 pieces of tape that have been applied to the back of the canvas, these spots from the front are virtually undistinguishable - may have had some restoration but it looks really well done There is one pinhole in the lion's hind leg and on small spot where the paint is thin enough to show light through ( not a hole though) off the end of the Wolf 's tail - this area measures about 3/8" longVery light stretcher marks - not a big deal - just wanted to mentionThe painting appears to be unsigned although there are interesting paint strokes along the bottom edge - it is hard to tell if these are just representing grass or if there is a signature there as wellDisplays beautifully
