Description: 1861-O HALF DOLLAR SS REPUBLIC SHIPWRECK CONFEDERATE ISSUE W-11A CSA DIE CRACK 1861-O NGC CERTIFIED SEATED LIBERTY HALF DOLLAR ** CONFEDERATE STATES ISSUE ** Excellent condition Seated Half recovered from the wreckage of the SS Republic. It has minimal wear, but it does show some crustiness from the saltwater effect. The 1861-O Half is the only silver coin in US history to have been issued by 3 different governments. First by the Union, then by the State of Louisiana, and finally by the Confederate States of America. NGC has certified this one as a Confederate issue. There are a few different varieties that they will label as CSA issue but the W-11 and W-11A is the one with the CSA dies crack from the rim to the bridge of her nose. The crack is strong and easy to see. The W-11A is a later die state with the crack extending past Liberty's face. Please check our close-up. Have a question?
