ITEM DETAILS Title: History of Scituate, Massachusetts, from its First Settlement to 1831Author: Samuel Deane Binding: Fine Cloth BindingPublisher: James Loring, BostonPublication Date: 1831Edition: 1st EditionCondition: Good ITEM DESCRIPTION Today we are pleased to offer this well preserved antique volume on Scituate, Massachusetts! A great find from a local Massachusetts estate! This antique volume is over 192 years old! 1st Edition. A rare volume to find in any condition! Original publisher cloth binding shows moderate wear including a missing spine (though a piece of the title label has been preserved within the book), rubbing, soiling and discoloration to the boards, some general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners. Internally this volume is in good shape overall. Poem by Kipling pasted to front pastedown endpaper. Cut signature of former owner Frank Herbert Waterman pasted to the front free fly page, as well as signature of former owner Lemuel Cushing Waterman written in pencil. The binding feels a bit loose overall. The front board is nearly detached from the binding, but remains attached by a thread; the back board is secure. All the page groupings appear to be firmly attached to the binding. Uneven page sizes as published. The text block itself is in good condition throughout. Pages show just light toning from age, as well light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and I noticed a page with some markings in pencil in the margins. Otherwise there are no major blemishes to note. This volume remains perfectly readable throughout! Make sure to see our additional photos below. A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special! Price includes FAST, FREE shipping! Buy with confidence! 406 pages with Index in back.
