Description: Late 18th century too early 19th century French naval dirk in good original condition with signs of corrosion and pitting on the forged iron blade. Measuring approximately 14 1/2” inches long with a 10 1/4 inch double side dagger type blade with no raised ricasso full hand hammered iron tang with a raised brass pommel cap. Hilt is carved bone still tight and secure with gilt brass counter guard with some slight oxidation on bottom side likely from sea service. Blade engraved with folite & vine scene.
